We will miss Michelle’s quick wit and huge smile, punctuated by her contagious laughter. We will fondly remember the times she went out of her way to “be there” when family needed her, the conversations while smoking on the back patio or boiling shrimp, and the joy of staying at her house. And, we’ll think of her every time we hear the song, “Its a Small World,” because although she despised the song, Michelle helped us realize that it is indeed a world of laughter and of tears, of hopes and of fears.
Michelle held a variety of jobs in the medical field including Candy Striper, EMT, and Phlebotomist; but her favorite occupation was her most recent – remodeling and reselling homes. She loved the beach, playing Scrabble on her iPad, and attending LSU Women’s Basketball games with her father.
She is survived by her father, Irion “Bordy” Bordelon; her siblings, Irion Bordelon, Jr. and his wife Debbie, Paul Bordelon, and Denise Bordelon Callegari and her husband, Butch. She is also survived by her aunts Pepper Jackson, Juanita Bordelon, and Paula Caruthers; and by numerous nieces and nephews: Joey Bordelon, Christopher Bordelon, Matthew Bordelon, Laura Bordelon King, Ned Bordelon, Nicole Bordelon, Will Callegari, Michael Callegari, John Callegari, and Elizabeth Callegari.
Michelle is preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Jo Erwin Landes Bordelon; her brother, Michael Bordelon; her nephew, Thomas Callegari; her aunts Marie Bertus and Ann Carter; and her grandparents, Nedley and Esther Bordelon and Paul and Neva Erwin.
A memorial service will be held at Lake Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery in New Orleans, Louisiana on Wednesday, July 1 at 11:00 am with a brief gathering beginning at 10:30 am. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all attendees must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
