

Stephen “LaMarr” Ingram, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the age of 86. LaMarr was born August 28, 1938, in Durham, North Carolina to parents John and Edith Ingram. He graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Wake Forest University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy in August, completed Officer Candidate School (OCS) and was commissioned as an Anti-Submarine Warfare and Gunnery Officer in December of 1960. He then served aboard the USS Huse (DE-145) in the naval blockade of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis in October of 1961. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in December of 1963 and then the U.S. Naval Reserve in June of 1972. LaMarr spent his professional career working for IBM for 30 years, from 1963 to 1993, moving his way up through the company as a salesman, then as sales manager, and then as an instructor where he led workshops on data processing all around the world. Outside of work, he spent his time volunteering at the National WWII Museum, where he was a member of the Patriots Circle, and playing golf at Chateau Golf and Country Club. He also enjoyed reading military history, traveling abroad, and dancing the Carolina Shag with Joan Marie Scheuering, his wife of 56 years, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents, sister, Evelyn Mesce, and brother, John Ingram. He is survived by his sons, Steve Ingram (Amy) and Scott Ingram (Jennifer), and grandchildren, Emily Ingram, Audrey Ingram, Bradley Ingram, Michael Ingram, and Alexandra Ingram. The service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124.
