

Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Michael Miccio; three sisters, Gertrude Chimento, Gloria Roy, and Yvonne Stenoien; three brothers, Milburn, Earl, and Huey Desselle; and her parents, Albert and Ina Childress Desselle. Sylvia is survived by her children, Dionne Thiel (Don), Michael Miccio (Antoinette), and Donald Miccio (Karen); grandchildren, Jennifer Lodge (Derrick), Mikal Stall, Magan Miller (Ray), and Irene Berard (Barrett); and five great grandchildren.
Sylvia was born in Bordelonville, Louisiana on February 25, 1936, and later moved to New Orleans. She attended Sacred Heart High School, and graduated from beauty school. She was a hairdresser for 50+ years, owning and operating her own salon in her home.
She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Chalmette. She enjoyed all types of dancing with her husband, and enjoyed baking Italian cookies for the St. Joseph altars. She loved to prepare meals for her family gatherings as often as possible, setting a beautiful table with her cherished crystal.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 12:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass at All Saints Mausoleum (in Metairie Cemetery).
