He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Indu Joshi Davé; sisters Usha Davé and Shwetha Mehta; and parents Ratilal Lallubhai Davé and Kamalaben Trivedi Davé. He is survived by his two sons Sanat Davé in California and Akshay Davé (Norma) in Virginia; and his beloved grandchildren, Siddharth Davé, Shanthi Davé, and Avi Davé.
Vibhakar was born in Visnagar, India. He received his master’s degree from University of Missouri Rolla and his Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from Tulane University. He was a professor at Southern University of New Orleans and became Head of the Physics Department. He retired from Southern in 2006. Vibhakar was a well respected member of the New Orleans Indian community and performed many weddings and funerals as the Brahmin priest for the community over his 58 years in New Orleans.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service in the chapel at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 2:30PM until 4:30PM.
