My very sincere condolences to the Jung family. I'm Janice Johnson the daughter of Etta P Garden who started working for the Jungs when (Jay) was 5 years old. It's been many years since I last saw him. I'm very overwhelmed to hear that he passed away. I want to give thanks to the Jungs Shari & Deke for the love and support they gave to me 20 years ago when my Mother passed away. I will never forget my childhood friend Jay during all the years my Mother worked for them. Over the years I always thought of him, Danner and Christy. I'm sending my prayers, love and blessings to you all.

I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed. And Dr. Jung performed the procedure that gave me this great smile.

I’m just so sad to find out Dr. Jung passed away. I cried and cried. He was so very kind and friendly. He would make funny jokes. I think he did it because he really cared about ALL of his patients. I’m from Eunice La. I had been referred to Dr. Jung for oral surgery. I was afraid but he made me as comfortable as possible. He was such a great person not just a dentist. I felt as though I’d known him my whole life. I’m so sad. God bless you all and I will always cherish Dr. Jung in my memories.

My name is Camille, and I was a long time patient of Dr. Jung’s. He removed my wisdom teeth back in 2018, and he was in the process of preparing me for dental implants when he passed. 

I was absolutely heartbroken and shocked. He was so kind, smart, thoughtful, driven. He always called me “sunshine” when he saw me. He, as well as his staff, told me over again how wonderful of a patient I was. He had no idea how happy I was to come in and see them all the time for follow-ups and various procedures. Who would’ve guessed that going to an oral surgeon’s office would be the best part of my weeks! I only knew him in a doctor’s office setting, and I can only imagine how wonderful he was to his friends and family. 

Today, January 24, 2022, I finally finished the implant process, and I have my permanent crowns that were placed by my dentist. 

I never got to properly thank Dr. Jung for everything. I have been praying my thanks to him frequently since he passed, but I hope he knows now that I am thinking of him a lot today. This process has changed my life, and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to help me with it. I thank him for his work and for his influence on his wonderful staff who looked up to him so much. I know he is in Heaven looking over us now. And I hope he has heard all of my thanks that I have sent up to him. God bless your soul, Dr. Jung, and God bless your family. You are so loved. 

I was so saddened to hear of his passing just today. I’m not much of a social media person. I had just spoken to him hours before his untimely death. He has taken care of me and several members of my immediate family. We also attended Ole Miss together and were making plans to connect in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl. Jay was one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. A true humble spirit and I will miss him. He always professed his love of family, his patients, his staff, and  those you helped him along the way. He just made everyone feel special. My heart goes out to his family and staff. We are grieving with you, but he is truly in a much better place 🙏🏿🙏🏿

Burt and I(Jami Smith) loved working with Jay at Camp O!  Jay was a fun loving guy who made camp fun for kids and counselors.  He will definitely be missed.  He will live on in our hearts and memories.  It was a blessing to have known Jay. 

     Just like everyone else who was lucky enough to really know him, we loved Jay and will miss him immensely!  He was a genuine and generous friend and we have so many wonderful memories of spending time together, watching hockey, talking about our families and just enjoying each others company.
     We recently talked about getting together in New Hampshire to watch Bennett and Hudson play hockey.  Jay ended up not being able to make it but Rhonda was lucky enough to get a big Hug from Bennett after the game.  I assumed we'd get another chance to see Jay in the New Year but alas, fate threw us all a horrible curve.

I am saddened by the passing of our classmate Jay Jung.   At Meharry, in dental  school, we   students would spend countless hours in classes and labs together so you  automatically  develop this classmate  bond.   I’ve always found Jay to be  courteous, kind, hardworking and one of the most competitive white boys in our black female dominated class.  He often had jokes , had a thunderous laugh and fit in well with his peers. He was driven to succeed and that he did.    Jay, farewell my dear classmate! I’ve been very saddened by the news. I considered Dr Jung a friend. I was first a patient and I can say due to his initial patients and kindness he helped save my life. I needed more than $30,000 in dental work due to a horrible previous accident that I was totally afraid to address. There were more than 20 people in the waiting room and he made me feel like I was the only person there. Because of my instant confidence in him I went through with it. That was 2009. We have been friends ever since. Heaven gained a magnificent man. God needed him more than us but I sure do miss him already. I’ve never met his family but my heart goes out to everyone of you and I pray for each of you. God Bless and see you on the other side Doc. 

Dr. Jung, or Dr. Sway—as he sometimes called himself, was an incredible surgeon, a wonderful friend, a true confidant, and most importantly a devoted husband and father. I’ve never met such a hard worker who was more devoted to his patients.  He truly inspired me to become a nurse and taught me so much about so many things. He was a kind and thoughtful person.  My heart goes out to his wife and children, I pray they find comfort during this difficult time. 

My husband and I will always remember the energetic,  and happy little boy,  named Jay.  To watch him grow and excel in school was so exciting.  He was a wonderful loving son to Shari and Walter (Deke).
Our hearts cry for his loss.  We pray he is at peace.  He will be missed by everyone.

Dr. Jung treated me in the McMinnville office, and he was so kind and very funny.  He was very thoughtful in all aspects of my treatment, and I was needing more work done.  I pray for his family and his patients.  We will miss you but will be reunited in Heaven.

When I think of Jay I fondly remember the times we shared in New Orleans with with his father. Joyful occasions.

Dr. Jung was an amazing surgeon! He was very patient and compassionate. I was going through a hard time and worried about my tooth infection on top of many other issues. Dr. Jung listened to my story without batting an eye, was so thoughtful and kind, and never judged me once. I never got the chance to have my tooth removed, but I brought a friend for his oral surgery just 2 weeks ago. He was just as friendly as he was the first time I met him and I was excited to have him as my future surgeon. We have lost a great doctor and more importantly, a great man. Sending love to his family!

Dear Jung Family,
     I just wanted to express my sincere condolences in the loss of Jay.
I have worked with him in McMinnville for about the last fourteen years. When I first met Jay, he had such a magnetic personality that I immediately made connection with him .  I too had an office in another state and we shared stories of our travels on Southwest Airlines!  I was a former hockey player too so we shared our love of hockey.   We graduated from the same dental school, although, he was about 15 years my junior.  My wife and  I experienced many a laugh with Jay when we would arrange lunches when he was in town.  He was a consummate oral surgeon and will be missed by me as well as the McMinnville community

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your children. He was taken way too soon and will be missed!

We are saddened by the news of Jay’s passing and are keeping all of you in our thoughts. Although our time at the rink together was not long, we remember  our conversations with Jay as  so enjoyable and heartfelt, and always filled with great parental pride! As Jack’s CA roommate, Guy shared such a gift of caring and concern that in hindsight is so reflective of Jay’s spirit. Dr. Jung was an amazing boss and so much more than an employer. From the moment I started working at his practice, I realized this place was different. His office was a family.  Dr. Jung was a true leader, mentor, and friend to his staff. He genuinely cared for us, our careers, and our lives outside of work. He listened to our woes (professional and personal) and was always prepared to console or counsel us with his fatherly wisdom. He led by great example with his consummate professionalism and amiable demeanor. We couldn’t have been happier to work hard for this man. He valued our efforts and every single Friday he thanked each of his employees personally for the work they gave him that week. He made it a point to inquire about our plans for the weekend and encouraged us to seize our free time for our enjoyment. We laughed loud and often. He taught us so much, and we still had plenty to learn from him. I would have worked for him forever. You are so loved, admired, and missed Dr. Jung 

My prayers are with his wife and children. He spoke of you often with tremendous pride and love. 



Well my first and “fondest” memory of Jay was his VERY first night at camp. He came to my house where me and “the boys” were playing a
Friendly game of poker. Jay kept on about his skill at cards so we welcomed him to the game. Long story short an hour or so later , Mr Jung wrote me a check for his losses!😂 welcome

I enjoyed the time we spent together as roommates.  You were a magnet for great people.  You were the catalyst that brought so many together.  I always enjoyed when your father came to Oxford, because the two of you openly shared your love for each other.  Wish we would have spent more time together post college, but we can fix that when we meet again in Heaven.

I so loved being neighbors with Jay and Tresha and their beautiful children. Jay was so kind- hearted and was particularly and intensely dedicated to his wife and children. I knew Jay to be a complete family man and remember having many sidewalk and den discussions about raising children and staying close as a family.  I pray for a peace for Tresha and the children … a peace that passes any understanding of this tragic situation and one that will encourage the beautifully eternal memories of Jay that will forever live in the hearts and minds of all who loved him.
