Dr. Walton H. Ehrhardt

Dr. Walton H. Ehrhardt passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022. He was born in New Orleans, LA, and was 82 years old. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Henry Ehrhardt; and his daughter, Paige. He is survived by his wife, Carol, and their four children, Allison (David), Jonathan (Chardel), Jason (Anne), and Jeremy (Shannon). He cherished his grandchildren Elizabeth (Christopher), Madeline, Reed (Kinsey), Kirk, Jack, Henry, Elizabeth, Kathryn, and Lexi, and his great grandchildren Jacob and Andrew.

He was a graduate of East Jefferson High School and Tulane University. He attended the Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, IL, where he received his Masters of Divinity. Later, he obtained his Doctorate of Education, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. After a number of years study with the International Psychotherapy Institute, he joined the faculty.

From 1964 until 1978, Dr. Ehrhardt served Lutheran churches in Illinois, Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Following his tenure at various churches throughout his ministry, he shifted his focus to being a licensed full-time Marriage and Family Therapist. He integrated the spiritual and with the psychological, often discussing the soul and the self. He worked rigorously and religiously to develop and make use of his kindness and strength. Over time “Dr. Walt”, as he was known to his clients, took such joy in assisting his clientele with their various struggles in life’s journey.

In his personal life, he loved spending time with his family. His love of travel, both domestically and abroad. He was a voracious reader of books, which never ended.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 11:00AM followed by a service at 1:00PM. The interment will be private.
