Warren George Knecht passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025 at home surrounded by his family and care giver. He was one of three children, born on September 23, 1936. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius in New Orleans in 1954. He worked at Falstaff Brewery until its closure, and moved on to Shell Oil until his retirement as an operator. He was very proud of his work and many look up to him for his expertise. He fulfilled his military obligation in the United States Army, and served two years in Japan during the Korean Conflict.
For 67 years he was married to Ruth Lemoine Knecht, his beloved wife and mother to their children. He is survived by his three children and their spouses: Sharon and Kyle Kline of Clinton, Kathy and John DeVun, DVM of Mandeville, and Robby and Jeannine Knecht of New Orleans; grandchildren: Chip and Emily Kline, Kaylan and Lee Ledet, Kameryn and Adam Fevella, Michael and Kathryn Devun, Justin and Brittany Devun, Kristyn and Matthew Squyres, Caroline and Iggy Perrin, Xander, August, Forrest, Andrew, Nickolas, and Ambrose Knecht. He was blessed with 15 great grandchildren. He still had his humor to the end. He was known for his Italian Salute that we participated in at every family event.
There will be a private family burial service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans.
Special thanks to his guardian angel, Mandy Brown, who lovingly took care of him for 4 ½ years. Her dedication and compassion was untouched.
