

William “Bill” Frank Becker, Jr., a lifelong resident of New Orleans and River Ridge, was called to peaceful eternal rest on April 6, 2016. He was 85 years old. He fought a courageous battle against dementia and cancer. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gay Holderith Becker. Loving father to Judy M. Becker Martin (Michael Louis Martin). Loving grandfather to Michael William Joseph Martin and Gerald Louis Becker Martin. Preceded in death by parents, William Frank Becker and Jeannette L. Murray Becker.
Bill graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School in New Orleans. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Tulane University.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was an active Marine in the Korean War. He also held a Civil Service position at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi.
Bill built a very successful Civil Engineering business, Becker & Associates. He obtained many patents for engineering designs and inventions.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, boating, and travel with friends and family. He has been a member of Christ Church Cathedral for over 50 years.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff and caregivers of Christ Church Cathedral, Quality Care Group, Canon Hospice, and Patio Drug Pharmacy. They were wonderful and exceeded expectations.
On Friday, April 15, 2016, relatives, family, and friends are invited to Christ Church Cathedral, 2919 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans, LA, 70115. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
The Very Reverend David Allard duPlantier and Reverend Canon Steven M. Roberts to officiate. Interment to follow at Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Church Cathedral in memory of William F. Becker, Jr.
