Zola Brady Duff (“Granny” / ”Big Z”), daughter of the late Ernest and Irene Brady, left this world on October 23, 2022 at the age of 93, to join her heavenly Father and loved ones that have preceded her in death, including her loving husband, “Duff”, nine siblings, infant daughter, and two heavenly great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, Beth Marie Duff and Kathy Duff Rodrigue, and her “son”, Brian Rodrigue; her devoted grandchildren, BJ and AJ Rodrigue, Katelyn and Richie Fitts, Casey and Pam Rodrigue; her most special great-grandchildren, Jace, Jordan, Jax, and Penny Mae Rodrigue, and Joana and Harper Fitts; and a host of special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Zola was born in Hahnville, LA. She graduated from Spencer’s Business College and worked as a secretary for years. Her longest stint was with the company (Duff Waterproofing Co, Inc.) that she and Duff formed in 1969. Zola viewed her family as her greatest reward in her life. She said her best times were when she was with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always looked forward to visiting and spending time with them.
She and Duff moved to Destrehan in 1997 and became parishioners of St. Charles Borromeo Church. She loved camping and other adventures with her family, cooking, knitting, and sitting outside to enjoy the outdoors – especially in her rocking chair. She will be remembered for her compassion for both friends and strangers, holiday traditions, and the love she had for her biological and adopted families.
A heartfelt thanks to her most special and loved caregivers, Beverly, Deneen, Cassandra, Lula, Allyson, and Marie. Thanks as well to her special nurse practitioner, Megan and Notre Dame Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation and Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 13396 River Rd. in Destrehan, on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Visitation will be held from 9AM until 12PM, and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12PM. The interment will follow the Mass at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Charles Parish Council on Aging in Zola’s memory.
