A Depression Era child, she experienced a hardscrabble life after losing her birth mother at a very young age. She and older sister Virginia fully reflected, and were grateful for the “can do” character of their father, John Stephens.
Angie married Edward Feldhouse and together they raised James, Carol and Glenn. They loved touring on their Harley Davidson motorcycle and owned and operated a full service General Store “Eastern Enterprises,” in Meriden, CT.
When widowed, Angie met and married Frank Young and added Christine and Susan to her children’s list. This was also the point where Angie acquired Florida snowbird status.
Always on the go and looking for a good deal. Angie flitted from restaurant to shopping mall to tag sale to discount store. At the latter, she often found toys and gag gifts that delighted the kids in her life.
Children were a major focus for Angie and they all still tell stories about the tricks she played on them.
Together with Carol, she wrote and performed elaborate comedy skits to entertain family and civic groups.
Bingo was a favorite pastime as was offshore and Indian casino gambling. And don’t think you can beat her in a card game; she was a winner right to the end.
Most remarkable is the fact that for more than a century she exhibited a truly positive attitude. Every person Angie encountered was richer for it. Angie never complained or blamed. Her spirit was pure joy!
