Anita Louise Milo, born September 14, 1938, ended her journey on earth on November 12, 2020 at the age of 82 in Trinity, FL. She was born in Cleveland, OH and raised in Pittsburgh, PA where she graduated from Penn Hills High School.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Michael Hertel; as well as her sister, Grace Tirado. She is survived by her sons, Scott Milo and Christopher Milo; her step-children Richard Milo, William Milo, Deborah Cornelius, David Milo and Gretchen Johnson.
After high school, she attended Thiel College in Greenville, PA, where she met her first husband, Michael Lee Horch, in which they sang together in the choir and where she excelled as a soprano soloist. She graduated in 1960 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, soon after which they got married and had son, Scott. During this period of time, Anita worked as a social worker, a high school teacher, and a guidance counselor throughout various parts of Pennsylvania.
After she and her first husband parted ways, she subsequently married Richard Milo, M.D., and she became a full-time homemaker, having gained five stepchildren. Dr. Milo adopted young Scott, and Anita and her new husband had son Christopher, which made a family of nine.
After her second marriage ended, Anita took her youngest with her to New Port Richey, FL to start a new life and be closer to her parents. Demonstrating her remarkable ability yet again to re-invent herself, she became a professional guardian and estate planner for the elderly. By all accounts, she was an exceptional advocate for many that needed a guardian in her home in Pasco County, FL for many years. She also returned to her love of singing, becoming the choir director at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Port Richey, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be in her memory to: Lutheran Hour Ministries Foundation or Thiel College.
