Danford Allen Cruser, "Dan," passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, in New Port Richey, Florida, surrounded by his wife and three daughters, listening to his favorite music. Born August 4, 1947, in Princeton, NJ, he fought bravely until the end.
Known to family as "The Total Package" for his captivating personality, thick dark hair, and twinkling blue eyes, Dan lived a life of dedication, simple pleasures, and unwavering love for his family.
A proud Vietnam combat veteran who served in Special Forces, Dan had a distinguished career as an award-winning long-haul truck driver, logging over a million accident-free miles. He also found fulfillment as a lobsterman.
A lifelong learner who attended American University, Dan was an avid reader, always keeping his family informed on current events and weather. His garden, a vibrant display of roses, sunflowers, plumeria, and moon glories, was his sanctuary, and he loved sharing photos of his blooms. He found joy in simple moments: morning coffee on the deck, listening to birds, and cheering on his beloved New England sports teams—the Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox.
Family was paramount. He cherished 43 years with his wife, with whom he would have celebrated 36 years of marriage on July 1st. He was the dad who always picked up the phone, offering endless support. He loved spending time with his extended family in New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Maine, whether on a beach, by a lake, or laughing in a blizzard. His beloved cat, Trouble, survives him, and he is joyfully reunited with his cherished dog, Cosmo.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife, Lori; his four children, Lindsay, Jordan, Margaret, and Hope; and five grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings, Carol and John, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and David, and his parents, John Senior and Gertrude.
We are forever grateful for his profound lessons on finding joy in small moments and always looking on the bright side. His spirit of optimism and love will continue to guide us.
The family invites you to join us to celebrate Dan's life at 1 PM June 21st, at the VFW Post 6180 where he served in many capacities over the last two decades and had many wonderful friends. 11551 Osceola Drive, New Port Richey, Florida. A burial will take place on a future date at the Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island.
