Duties typically included supervision of local employee staffs, including performance evaluations; certification of official disbursements up of $12 million annually; supervision of cashier operations involving up to $200 thousand, with $6 million annual turnover; preparation of annual budgets, financial plans and monthy and quarterly financial reporting for the State Department and other serviced USG agencies.
*Management Analysis Officer, Bureau of UN Affairs, Washington, D.C. Focus of activity was upon coordination of USG-wide resource inputs into the UN and its specialized agencies through budgetary and program evaluation techniqes for maximizing UN system efficiency and effectiveness.
*Auditor, Office of the Inspector General of the Foreign Service, Washington, D.C. As an audit-qualified inspector, I performed financial compliance and operational audits of State Department appropriated and non-appropriated funds in Department Bureaus, Embassies, Commissaries, American overseas school grants and educational bi-national commissions; on special assignemnts investigated instances of fraud in accounting, contracting and cashier operations.

Lane, George Henry; 79, passed away on May 17, 2012 in New Port Richey, Florida. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Gertrud. George was a retired U.S. Foreign Service Employee and traveled with world with his position. He is survived by his 3 sons Kurt, Paul, & Tyler Lane; daughters Alison Lane, Valerie Lawrence, & Julie Hausmann; sister Gertrude Kilman & 10 grandchildren Christopher M. Lane, Christopher P. Lane, Heather Lane, Olivia Lane, Valerie Lane, Ashley Lane, Sean Hausmann, Sophie Hausmann, Christian Hausmann, & Logan Smith. He was predeceased by his loving wife Carol, son Kent Lane & daughter Lisa Lane.
