George was one of six children born to the late George W. and Bertha Cervenka Lyons. He attended Stamford Public schools and graduated with the class of 1936 from Stamford High School. George served in the Pacific during WWII and received the Bronze Star for his heroism.
After the war George was employed by the Fidelity Bank for 45 years and retired as Executive V.P. He then relocated to New Port Richey, FL where he enjoyed his retirement years. George is survived by his wife of 68 years Dorothy Farrell Lyons, a son George and a daughter Kathleen. He is also survived by a sister Katherine Gill of Stamford and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Walter and Robert and sisters Mildred Rumore and Bertha Corey.
