

In 1959, Jesus joined the Army as a combat engineer. After his time in the service he worked at Weidlinger Associates Engineering Firm in Manhattan, New York for twenty two years as a mailroom clerk. In his downtime he loved playing dominoes and had a love for baseball. He played single A baseball in Puerto Rico as well as coached the Jaws little league and Los Padres minor league teams in the Bronx for several years.
He is survived by his daughter Maritza Cruz; his son David Cruz; 12 grandchildren: Kristine DeFelice; Karen Varcoe; Alain Mesa; Matthew Chanona; David Ryan Cruz; Justin Chanona; Michael Cruz; Brandon Ramirez; Jonathon Cruz; Kelsey Jager; Amanda Cruz; Kathleen Rivas; 16 great grandchildren: Jay; Christian, Alanna; Matthew; Jesus; Elijah; Isaiah; Kylie; Amayah; Zoey; Gunnar; Ezekiel; Lily; Lucia; Angelo; James; 1 great great grandchild: Marianna; 3 brothers: Edwin Cruz; Jose Cruz; Edilberto Cruz and many nieces and nephews.
Jesus is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Santia Cruz, his daughter Margarita Cruz, his grandson Nicolas Jager, several brothers and sisters, his parents and many more family and friends.

A visitation will be held on November 13, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Meadowlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, located at 4244 Madison Street, New Port Richey, FL 34652.
The funeral service will follow on the same day, November 13, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the same venue.
A reception will be held on November 13, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Meadowlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
A graveside service is scheduled for November 14, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, located at 5525 US-1 Mims, Florida 32754
