Obituary
Lucy May Settle (80) passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024 after a decline in her health in Brooksville Florida. Her family is deeply saddened by her sudden death.
Born on January 10, 1944 to Mary Myers and Alfred Ronalds in upstate New York, Lucy lived a quiet life with her two siblings. Sister Trina Gilbert who passed on September 21, 2012 and Joan Stultz who still resides in upstate New York.
Lucy was a natural caregiver that loved to help others so she pursued a career in nursing at Community Hospital as an LPN. There she met her dearest and closest friend Carl Lee of fifty-eight years. Lucy dedicated her life in nursing the sick back to health and provided comfort and love to all lives that she touched.
In a small bar in the late sixties Lucy met her husband Thomas M. Settle who preceded her in death on September 25, 2006. The two of them became inseparable and married on October 20, 1973. Lucy and Thomas spent their time hunting, fishing and camping. They loved the outdoors and would escape to their special haven whenever they could get away. They enjoyed family time having cookouts and playing games with their friends and children. They had two children together, one son Alfred Jay Settle and spouse David Vrooman, and one daughter Rebecca Settle Adeyemi along with six step children and many other family members that have been left behind.
Lucy made an impact on many lives throughout her lifetime. She was blessed with a beautiful loving spirt inside and out. She never met a stranger opening her heart to all with her kind and passionate ways. She gave freely and expected nothing in return from people. Lucy truly had a heart of gold for people and animals. She had a deep fondness for animals, especially little Joy Bird who was her fur baby until October 10, 2023.She was Lucy’s longtime companion and friend. Lucy will be forever missed and loved. We will carry her memory in our hearts.
It is time to move forward in your new journey. Don’t look back at the family you leave behind. Smile and know they will be fine. Spread your wing and fly. Soar little bird soar. Peace has come for you at last.
