Marcela died on April 13, 2019, at Voorhees, New Jersey, at the age of 94 of natural causes. She born of March 1, 1925, at Bay Ridge Brooklyn, New York, to her father Dominick, the co-owner of The Scotto Bank, 212 Columbia Street, Brooklyn, New York, and his wife Adele. She was the niece of fashion designer Mamie Conti. A graduate with honors from Midwood High School and attended Rutgers University. Her marriage to Douglas E. de Keyser ended in divorce.
Marcela had a career as an administrative assistant and a special events coordinator for some of the leading cultural institutions in Philadelphia, including the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The Opera Company of Philadelphia, the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition, Sotheby’s, and the Fabric Workshop.
Survivors include her daughter, Holly de Keyser of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, sons Dwight Dekeyser, Esq. of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and Douglas “Mickey” de Keyser of Berlin, New Jersey, and her sister Donna H. Dittmeier of Valhalla, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Vally M. Marciano of Baltimore, Maryland, and her brother Dr. Michael J. Scotto of Brookline, Massachusetts.
Marcela will be lying in repose, Thursday, April 25th, time: 9:30 AM —12:30 PM, at Frank E. Campbell, The Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Ave., New York NY 10028, 212-288-3500. Interment: Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY, April 25th, 2:00 PM.
