Barbara Gayle Hanning, 82, of Newburgh, peacefully passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at her home, after a 20 year battle with cancer. She was born November 29, 1932, in Vanderburgh County, to the late Robert A. and Mildred Mae (Wathen) Porter.
She was a member of Newburgh United Methodist Church, where she had been very active in the Pairs & Spares class. She enjoyed sewing, teaching piano, and singing.
Gayle is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles A. Hanning; daughters, Gwendolyn (Jim) Seibert of Newburgh, Barbara Sue Barrett of Kokomo, IN, and Katherine (Steve) Wall of North Aurora, IL; son, Gary Hanning of Fort Collins, CO; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Dale (Stella) Porter of Boonville; sister, Janet Ray Anderson of Newburgh; and six nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Rev. Chris Nunley, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Newburgh United Methodist Church Tree of Life.
