

Denis was born in Evansville, Indiana on September 12, 1953 to Robert Rhodes Hadley and Virginia Louise (Sloan) Hadley. He lived in Evansville for a short time before moving to Boonville in 1960. He attended Culver and Clark Elementary, and Boonville High School. He earned a business degree at Indiana State University-Evansville. He went on to work in Receiving at Schnucks for 39 years before retiring and becoming a full-time grandpa.
Denis was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and then went on to attend Main Street Baptist Church into adulthood.
Denis enjoyed antiquing and was an avid collector of Uhl Pottery. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and interest in Uhl with others. He was a member of the Uhl Pottery Collectors Society since 1987 and enjoyed attending the annual convention with his family.
Denis was also interested in genealogy and spent countless hours throughout his life researching and collecting stories about his ancestors. He was a talented writer and turned the research into books for future generations of his family to enjoy.
Denis was a wonderful, loving husband, an amazing father and the best grandpa. He was always ready to joke and have fun or give helpful advice when needed. He was kind, caring, and understanding. To know him was to love him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joyce; his daughter, Katie and son-in-law, Ben; adoring grandchildren, Eva and Oliver; brothers, David (Linda) and Dan, brother-in-law, Paul, and sister-in-laws, Joan, Jeanette (Alan), and Pamela; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Rev. Rodney Sloan. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026 and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
