He was a Lutheran Minister for 45 years for the Missouri Synod and a Master Woodworker Craftsman.
Rev. Carey was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Carey.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rita; son, Edwin Carey II (Jacque); daughter, Anna Marie Williams; sons, Shawn Carey (Delia), Shane Carey (Tara), Joel Carey (Amy); 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Carey; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM, Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN, officiated by Rev. Dr. Martin Noland with burial in Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may visit 3-6 PM on Saturday, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh, IN, and 12:00 PM until service time on Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
