Esther Louise Martens, a longtime resident of Boonville, died Monday, December 19, 2016, at Walnut Creek Memory Care facility. Born in 1938 in West Hamlin, WV, Esther lived a long, wonderful life. She spent her years volunteering for various organizations, was a member of the Evansville Rose Society, and a foster parent for 30 years where she helped change the lives of many children. She was a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church in Cannelton, IN.
Esther loved socializing and meeting new people, she had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.
She was preceded in death by her longtime loving husband of 54 years, Donald Ray Martens.
Esther is survived by her only son, Rocky Martens (Tammy); grandchildren, Amanda Baker (David), Cory Martens (Whitney); great-grandsons, Jack, Wyatt, Liam, and Knox Baker; 2 sisters; and 5 brothers.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Pastor Ken Slater with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville. Friends may visit 10:00 AM until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
