Obituary of G.A. Ward
G.A. Ward passed away on March 22, 2022 at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on October 16, 1940 and was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Olive Ward. G.A. is survived by his wife of 41 years, Beverly; his sister, Joetta Carpenter; his children, Darin (Teri) Ward, Amy (Butch) Leslie, Jamie (Ken) Ward, Greg Ward, Stacey (John) Knight, and Debbie Baize. G.A. had 11 beautiful and loving grandchildren, Ali and Marissa Ward, Zach and Darin Ward, Alexis (Chase) Elpers, Jorden (Karly) Baize, Beau Baize, Jonathan (Kelsey) Paul, Bryce Paul, Blaire (Matt) Bertram, Kyle Leslie, and 4 great grandchildren. After G.A.’s graduation from Owensville High School, he attended the University of Evansville where he played basketball. G.A. attended mortuary school in Indianapolis until he started working for Farm Bureau Insurance where he retired after 40 years. G.A. was a loving and dedicated family man and friend who made everyone laugh. He had a love for farming and helping in any way he could. He would try to attend every high school football game where his son, Darin, coached. He loved his grandchildren dearly and attended and supported them in all of their extracurricular activities. He was known as the Mayor of his neighborhood and would keep his lawn in immaculate shape. If you were new to the family, he would call you by the wrong name and would call you by that wrong name moving forward and would never forget it. It was his way of showing he cared and welcomed everyone. G.A. left us with many funny stories to share for many years to come. We are so honored to call you husband, dad, brother, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa, and friend. A Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261.
