Jerry M. Edwards Jr.

Jerry M. Edwards, Jr., 67, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Thursday, January 02, 2014, at Hamilton Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born November 11, 1946, in Evansville, IN. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired after 40 years as a mechanical engineer at George Koch & Sons. Jerry liked to play golf, fishing, radio controlled planes, bowling and the River Boat Casino. He was a member of St. Matthew United Church of Christ. He was a former member of the St. Joe’s Men’s Club. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry M. Edwards, Sr. and Thelma Edwards; brothers, Jesse Fuquay and Roy Edwards; and sister, Patricia Pierson. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna; daughters, Julie Saffell & Christina Rice (Donnie); grandchildren, Emily and Hailee Saffell, Eyan, Julia and Olivia Rice; sisters, Thelma Fark, Vicky Tompkins, Kim Allen (Jeff); and nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank Dr. Finn, Dr. Ahmed and nurse, Brooke; the staff at Heritage Hospice, Raina, Sonja, Mary Jo; and the staff at Hamilton Pointe. Services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Rev. Phil Hoy, with entombment at Locust Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed at the cemetery. Friends may visit Monday, 4-8 PM, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or North Posey Relay for Life.
