

JD Perkins, 91, of Evansville, IN, passed away November 7, 2016, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh. He was born January 10, 1925, in Daniel Boone, KY, to the late Ester and Mary Belle Perkins.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII with the O.S.S. He worked at Hancock Trucking, Super Service, Trans Portation and retired from Time DC Trucking Company as Sales Manager. JD was a member and past Deacon at Oak Hill Bible Fellowship and a member of American Legion Kapperman Post 44. His love was being a ham operator and sailing at Kentucky Lake. In his younger days, he enjoyed rabbit hunting with his beagles.
JD was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Martha; brother, Bill; his parents, Ester and Mary Belle Perkins; and his aunt and uncle, Willie and Louis Knight, who raised him after his parents’ death.
He is survived by sons, Jerry Perkins (Pat) of Long Island, NY, John Perkins (Beverly) of Viera, FL, and James Perkins (Lori) of Newburgh, IN; 5 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Rhonda Marshall with entombment in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit 5-7:30 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
