He was retired from the Warrick County Highway Department.
Ralph was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran.
He was a life member of the American Legion Kapperman Post 44 and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Byerns) Schmitt; parents; 6 brothers; and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his sister, Ella Mae Schwab of Campbellsville, KY.
Services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Road, Newburgh, IN with burial at St. John’s Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Joseph Ziliak. Friends may visit Tuesday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at Alexander Newburgh Chapel and from 9:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
