Ruth E. Henkel

Ruth E. Henkel, 94 of Newburgh, IN passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at River Pointe Health Campus in Evansville. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 3, 1923 to the late Thor and Magdeline Nystrom. She was a long time member of Newburgh United Methodist Church and Newburgh Women’s Club. Ruth was a retired bookkeeper. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching special game shows, crossword puzzles, traveling, and she especially enjoyed her daughter and son-in-law’s cooking. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert Fred Henkel; daughter, Patricia Lee Meisinger; brothers, Don and Bob; and sister, Helen. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Resing (Michael) of Newburgh; grandchildren, Patricia, Kirsten (Bart Battles), and Cameron McConnell (Jason Moore); great-grandchildren, Olivia George, Lindsey Battles; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Newburgh United Methodist church officiated by Rev. Chuck Sommers and Rev. Craig W. Duke with burial in Mount Emblem Cemetery Elmhurst, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
