Shirley Burch

Shirley Burch, 85, of Newburgh, IN passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born on January 19, 1940, in Warrick County, IN to the late Carl and Ada (Fisher) Hatchett.

She graduated from Chandler High School and, after 26 dedicated years at TJ Maxx, retired in 2013 to spend more time with her granddaughters. Shirley loved weekends spent with her husband driving their 1941 Chevy and attending car shows. She carried a strong, unwavering faith in God throughout her life.

Her life was centered around her family, and she lived for her granddaughters. She attended every school program, dance recital and soccer game. She spent her retirement years with her daughters and granddaughters. They took many trips and made so many fond memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Bryce Burch; her daughter, Misty Cooper; grandparents, Teckla and George Hatchett, and Tona and Albert Fisher; parents, Ada Schnell and Carl Hatchett; brothers, Jerry Hatchett, Dennis Hatchett, and Daniel Hatchett; and sister, Diana Warren.

She is survived by her daughter, Crystal Herrell (David); her granddaughters, Ashlyn Herrell and Brynley Herrell; her sister, Jacqueline Dishman (Robert); and many nieces and nephews in both the Burch and Hatchett families.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State St. #261, Newburgh, IN 47630 with Rev. Scott Hutcheson officiating. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
