Stephen Michael Bright

Stephen Michael Bright, PhD, 70, of Georgetown, IN passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019 at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born in Minneapolis, MN August 16, 1949 to Donald and Barbara Chandler Bright. He was a musician of both serious and rock music and was a member of the Wylds, a popular rock group in Southern Indiana in the late 1960’s and 70’s. He also loved choral and operatic music, performing in the Indianapolis Opera and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. Steve worked as a Medical Technologist in clinical laboratories for more than 40 years. He was a Major in the U.S. Army serving at Brook Army General and Walter Reed hospitals. Steve was preceded in death by father, Donald Duane Bright; grandparents, Pearl and Ward Chandler and Effie and Harry Bright. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen Lukat Bright; sons, Stephen W. Bright (Jani), Evan Bright; grandson, Devan Bright; step-grandchildren, Mackenzie Fisher-Burton, Sara Fisher, Brady Ikemeier; mother, Barbara Chandler Bright; and brother, Randall Bright (Debra). Funeral Services will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel. Friends may visit 4:30-9 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Warrick Humane Society or the ASPCA.
