Alfred Sherman Gale “AL”, age 55, was born on April 28, 1958 in Chicago, IL. He was the loving father of Robert, beloved grandfather of Shirley and Daniella, devoted son of Leon and Dorothy Gale and the dear brother of Levon, Patricia, Londale, Burnett Gale-Moore (Dwaine Lassiter), Johnice Greer (Earl), Lela Wright (Marcus Williams) and the late Pearl Wright- Knox. He was the fourth oldest of his eight siblings.
Al attended Raymond Wright and Frederick Douglas Elementary Schools. He also attended Wendell Phillips and Thornton Township High Schools. Al worked as a mechanic for over 30 years. He was employed by Abernathy Cab, Russell Cab, and King Cab.
He was well loved by everyone that knew him. He was always willing to help you with your car even when his health was failing. Just ask Al about your car and he was there for you.
Some of his hobbies included: skating, and he was outstanding, collecting model cars and dressing to impress. A godfather to many, he loved sports, loved playing video games that belonged to his nieces and nephews and he had a unique way of playing cards which required his opponent to have a third eye. (Look under the table)!
You never saw Al without a toothpick in his mouth and he was a big jokester with his family and friends. He was a laid back and very mellow type of guy. Al never was the type of person who would turn you down if you needed him. Al loved his family and was willing to do whatever they asked.
On November 10, 2013 at Apostolic Faith Church, Al gave his life over to Christ. His fight with cancer never stopped his faith. On Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 4:23 pm he completed this transition at home with his loving family by his side.
Celebrating his life and cherishing his memories, he leaves his loving son, Robert K. Hollins, granddaughters, Shirley & Daniella Hollins, 14 years of love with Ketuarh McGee and her son Dakota McGee, his loving parents, Leon and Dorothy Gale, six siblings, Levon Gale of Gary, Patricia A. Gale, Londale Gale, Burnett Gale-Moore, Johnice (Earl) Greer, Lela Wright and a host of nieces of nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and co-workers.
