Andrea Demeter

Born March 25,1952, in Chicago, the daughter of the late George and Betty (nee Makrilias) Kagianas. Andrea married the love of her life, James Demeter, on December 2, 1990. She was the devoted and loving mother to Alexander Apostolos.

Andrea had a zest for life. She had a deep spiritual life and found peace in her faith. She found joy in old movies, classic cars, music, singing, outings to her favorite restaurants, time with family, and the close relationship she shared with her son, Alex. She loved to entertain and especially enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Andrea’s sense of humor, love for her family and friends, and joy in life was infectious. Alex was the apple of her eye and her constant companion.

She is preceded in death by her husband, the late James Demeter; Her parents, the late George and Betty Kagianas, and other dear relatives and friends.

Andrea leaves behind her child, Alexander Apostolos. Her brother, Theodore (Maria) Kagianas; and many other cherished nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Andrea's son, Alex Apostolos would be greatly appreciated.

A visitation for Andrea will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 10:30 AM at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 15625 S Bell Rd, Homer Glen, IL 60491.Interment at Elmwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, 2905 N Thatcher Ave, River Grove, IL 60171.
