I’m heartbroken to have discovered today that Carole passed away. I moved away from 801 S Plymouth Court several years ago and she was one of my favorite neighbors. Carole never met a stranger and if she didn’t like something, she’d tell you to your face. I loved her no-nonsense attitude because it was always tempered with kindness and a good laugh. She was an invaluable emotional support to me through difficult life moments, especially during my time on the condo board. 

As a transplant, I lived in Chicago without any family nearby. Carole taught me so much about the City of Broad Shoulders and she represented the best of Chicago— lots of soul and an even bigger heart. Thank you to the family for posting so many photos of Carole, what a treat to get see her over the years. And what a gift she was for those lucky enough to call her a friend.

My name is Ploon and I used to work in the restaurant of the Intercontinental Hotel were Mrs. Carol was a beloved guest. 

After I moved back home to The Netherlands in 2018, we kept contact through some emails. 

Today I had to think of her and I I wanted to write her an email. But before I did I Googled her name and I found out she has passed away.

I wanted to leave a message for let her loved ones to know that I will always remember the kindness of Mrs. Carole and our enjoyable conversations in the Center Court restaurant.

Carole was such a fantastic neighbor to my family. I'll always remember our talks about life, Chicago and the state of the world. She holds a special place in our hearts and the heart of our young son. We all loved seeing her a few times a week and sitting with her in the lobby chatting. She made an effort to include everyone in her social meetings and parties and she'll forever be in our memories. We are terribly sorry to hear of her passing and miss her dearly. 

Carole was a solid contributor to life at 801 S Plymouth Ct - always first in line to organize book club, social events and more. I’m so sorry to learn I will never be able to join her on the front deck for an evening cocktail, as I always meant to do. May she rest in peace and may her surviving family and close friends be comforted with memories of happy times with Carole. Shalom.

I am very sorry for your loss.  I worked in the same building as Carole.  Carole always was a very thoughtful and sweet person to talk to.  I will miss her positive attitude.


I was so very sorry to hear about Carol. I always appreciated her efforts to foster a sense of community and neighborhood in the 801 building. She will be missed. 

So grateful I got to know Carole at Plymouth Court and Book Club. Our group loved her and we will miss her.  Her South Loop and Printers Row family will also.

I was so sorry to hear of Carole's passing.  I haven't seen her since we moved out of Chicago but have fond memories of her as a neighbor and book club member in Chicago Printers Row. Sending my deepest condolences to the family. Carole  was a wonderful lady and a good friend. I will always remember the Rolling Stones concert at Madison Square Garden New York City that we went to together, it was a memorable night. Also, the night I brought Alan King down to Atlantic City for the Charming Shops convention, Carol put everything together,  Alan  liked her very much. Her great stories and friendship with Steve Villa was always good to hear. The world has lost a very fine woman and I will miss her.    Morris Levy
