Delbert L. James, of Placida Florida, passed into the arms of the Lord on March 14, 2021. Delbert was born June 27, 1936 in Hazel Green, Kentucky to Benjamin Franklin and Cora Alice (Russell) James. He was the eighth of ten children. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carol Ann; His sister, Jewell Ann (Lee) Weldy; His brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennis and Sue Hoiseck, brother-in-law, Allen Hoiseck, and a number of loving nieces and nephews. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Andy C. (Phyllis), Everette B. (Ellen), Archie J. (Imogene), Jesse F. (Roberta), Rose E. (William) Patrick, Sarah E. (Merle) Rockwell, Dewey F., and Robert D., and their beloved pets, Poncho and Delilah. Delbert was a truck driver in Chicago for nearly forty years before retiring in Florida. He was a member of Teamsters Union 731 and the Power Squadron in Chicago, IL. He and Carol loved camping, boating at Paw Paw Lake, cruising, and traveling for adventure and to visit family and friends.
Delbert will be laid to rest at the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Justice, IL with arrangements by Blake-Lamb Funeral Home. Private services. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the American Cancer Society.
