

With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Peter Jerry Glikis who departed this world on February 21, 2026, a remarkable man whose life was defined by service, generosity, faith, and above all, love for his family and community.
A devoted husband to his beloved wife, Patricia, Peter was a proud and loving father to Jerry (Patty) Glikis, Tommy Glikis, Michele (Patrick) McKinney, Danny Glikis, Michael Glikis, and Melissa Glikis. He was the cherished grandfather to Joshua, Tessa (Christian), Madeline, Jenna, Andrew, Isabelle, Allie, Jacob, Emily, and Riley, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jerry Peter and Jennie Glikis. He was a dear and devoted brother to Valerie (Steve) Brooks. A beloved son-in-law to the late Thomas and Rose O’Reilly, and a treasured brother-in-law to James (Linda) O’Reilly, Kathleen (Gary) Martel, and the late Ronald (Kathy) Reidy and Sarah (Tom) Chirillo. He was a proud Godfather, a dear uncle, cousin to many, and truly a friend to all who knew him.
Peter attended Richards High School, later he answered the call to serve his country with courage and honor as a proud United States Army Veteran and member of the elite Special Forces Green Berets. His strength, discipline, and quiet bravery were hallmarks of his character.
As a longtime grocery store owner, Peter was far more than a businessman he was a pillar of the community. Known for having the “BIGGEST HEART,” he looked out for families in need, often helping quietly and without recognition. He and Patricia opened not only the grocery store, but their home, welcoming neighborhood children who needed warmth, guidance, or simply a safe place to stay. His generosity was not occasional it was a way of life.
He was a proud member of the Order of AHEPA, Woodlawn Chapter, and a brother of DA GREENS BROTHERS, organizations that reflected his commitment to heritage, fellowship, and service. At home, he was also a loving “Furpop” to his loyal companion, Kean, who rarely left his side.
A Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453.
A morning visitation will take place from 9am to 10am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 10301 Kolmar Avenue, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453, followed by funeral services at 10am. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s honor may be made to the PKD Foundation or the Veterans Association of America.
