Dr. Rogelio O Cave

Physician, musician, athlete, philanthropist, community leader, husband, son and grandfather; Dr. Rogelio O. Cave’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. Dr. Cave passed away on August 23, 2021 at 5:11am at the age of 82 after a courageous battle with cancer, was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife for 53 years, Estela; Children: Roderick Stan (Tammy) and Roger Joseph (Jennifer); Grandchildren: Jennilyn Joy, Roderick Stan, Rayne Ann, Raymond Joseph, Roman John, and Rogen James; Sister: Milagos; as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Mel.

Dr. Cave completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Far Eastern University (FEU) in the Philippines, 1965. He then conducted his residency at FEU Hospital from 1965-1969, then went on to Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, from 1970-1975. Dr. Rogelio’s pride was in his accomplishments and helping others. In 1982, Dr. Cave started traveling to the Philippines at his own expense in order to help the less fortunate in need of medical care. Dr. Cave is truly an altruistic person who always selflessly displays concern for the well-being of others around him. He continued his devotion by servicing the south side hospitals including Englewood, St. Bernard and Roseland Hospital; where he ended his 56 years in the medical profession as their Medical Director. In addition to his medical profession, he received many honorable awards and recognitions.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Friends and family can honor his life at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home (4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn 60453) from 4pm until 9pm on August 26, 2021. Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, August 27, 2021 at St. Germaine Church (9711 S Kolin Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453), starting at 12pm.
