

Andrew Ling An Shih of Adelanto, California, aged 85, passed away on August 30, 2024. Born in the Liaoning province, Andrew and his family survived deadly conflict in China, escaping in the bottom of a boat to Korea, where Andrew learned his wonderful cooking skills that would serve him his whole life. They immigrated to San Francisco in 1960, where he opened successful restaurants with his brother Stephen, and later in Los Angeles. Andrew spent many years in Oceanside, CA catering for scripps medical center and attending Calvary Chapel, where he worked with the food bank for many years and he earned many friends with his charisma, joy and devotion. He loved golfing and watching football, and his true language of love was food and cooking. In his later years, Andrew took an epic trip back to China and Korea where he visited distant family and the villages he grew up in, as well as major cities and sights. A highlight of his trip was learning his birth mother’s full name who had passed when he was a child. He wanted friends and family to celebrate when he passed, because he felt he had been gifted a long wonderful life, and he was ready and excited to meet his Heavenly Father and see his mother once again. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him. He is survived by his partner Yung Chung, seven siblings, 3 children, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. A viewing is scheduled for Sunday, September 15th from 4-8pm, with services and burial Monday September 16th 1pm-3pm at Eternal Hills Memorial Park
