Annie Martinez Villegas, a life-long resident of Carlsbad, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2015 surrounded by her loving family and after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Annie was born on April 27, 1940 in Carlsbad to her parents Ricardo R. And Sofia L. Martinez and was a quiet, caring and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt. godmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Veronica Jean Villegas, granddaughter Marissa Christine and sister Maria J. Felix. She is survived by her sons, Rodney Martinez, Donald Martinez, Daniel Martinez, and Frank Villegas III, daughter, Christine Villegas Gonzalez; grandchildren, Jon, Zach, Parker, Gracie, Veronica, Max; and great-granddaughter Maria Guadalupe.
She is also survived by her sisters Connie, Sofia, Gina and brothers Ben, Joe, Rick, Paul, Albert, Peter and Alex. Her quiet strength was an inspiration to us all and she will be greatly missed.
Memorial services are: Viewing: Monday, May 4 from 4p.m. to 8p.m. at Eternal Hills In Oceanside. Tuesday, May 5: Rosary: 9a.m. Mass: 10a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Carlsbad. Interment to follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside.
