Doris Garza was born on September 3, 1922 in Van Buren, OH and later lived in Findlay, OH. She was raised in a loving, Christian home and she was the youngest of four children. She was mostly Irish with a little French and Scotch. Her maiden name was DeRodes. She had a brother named Don, and sisters Gladys and Louise. She came from a very musical family: her Dad played trumpet, violin, and cornet professionally; her brother Don played trumpet professionally in a band (Big Band Music); her sister Gladys played piano, and her sister Louise played violin and piano, and Doris played trumpet and piano. She was also in a band and played trumpet for wounded soldiers during WWII (they played all the Big Band Music). She loved Glenn Miller!
She married John Garza just after WWII, and in the early 50’s they moved to Burbank, CA. They had 5 children: Diana, John, Steven, Karen, and Michael. Doris was always involved in serving at church, usually singing in a choir. She studied and learned much from the Bible, and the Lord has always been the main focus of her life. She was a very strong lady, but during hard times she leaned on God. She was always a very loving Mother, always protected her kids, gave them the best advice and was always there for them! She had quite a sense of humor and everyone loved her. And she had beautiful, blue eyes.
She passed away on February 3, 2012 at age 89 in the comfort of her own home. She will be greatly missed, but family and friends take great comfort in knowing she is now with our loving Lord and Savior!!
Love,
