Dorothy Ann Bissonnette, 72, of Oceanside, CA, unexpectantly entered into rest on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at her home. She was born in Biddeford, ME on January 3, 1940, a daughter of Raoul and Delores Lemieux Loignon and was educated in Biddeford schools. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1959.
On June 24, 1978, she married the love of her life, Paul Bissonnette. They lived for a time in MA and moved to CA in 1982. They spent 26 wonderful years together. He passed away in 2004 on her birthday, January 3rd. Paul always told her that she would never forget him and she never did.
While in CA, “Dottie” found her calling as a bartender for the Olive Garden restaurant eventually becoming trainer and bar manager. She was a natural knowing everything there was to know about sports. She served her patrons while discussing her favorite subject. Most men were taken aback when she knew more stats than they did. She worked there for 18 years and even though she retired in 2006, you can go back to that location today and people still remember Dottie Bissonnette.
For the past five years, she spent her summers in Maine to spend time with family especially her beloved grandson.
She was loved by everyone who knew her. One nephew commented, on hearing of her passing, that Aunt Dot was the nicest person he ever knew. Quite a tribute, especially from a teenager.
Dorothy was also pre-deceased by her brother Ralph Loignon; and her beloved mother-in-law, Diana Bissonnette.
Surviving are:
Two sons: Brian Huot of Biddeford, ME and his son, Nathan, and John Huot of Old Orchard Beach, ME and Nathan’s mother, Kathy Blanchette.
Two step-children: Steve Bissonnette, his wife Tammy and their children and Sandy Bissonnette and her children.
Two sisters: Jeanne Loignon of Biddeford, ME and Jocelyn Crones of Lowell, MA.
A sister-in-law, Joan Loignon of Portland, ME.
A very special niece, Lynn Caron of San Diego, CA and her two children Quinn and Rose.
Brothers-in-law: Robert Bissonnette, his wife Rita and their children of Saco, ME and Roger Bissonnette of Tempe, AZ.
Nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and several close friends.
Mrs. Bissonnette was a long time communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Carlsbad, CA. Her final resting place will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford, Maine next to her husband and her parents.
We will miss you...
A Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon,
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not
so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive-
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are
born to Eternal Life.
