Dorothy M. Raddatz, 90, died Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at her home in Vista, California. Graveside services and burial will be at Eternal Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, Oceanside, California on Wednesday, November 28, and 12:00.
Dorothy Mary Raddatz was born on May 29, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York, to Peter and Alice (Brooker) Barkus. While serving as a telephone operator with the United States Marine Corps in Paris Island, South Carolina, she married Loren A. Raddatz on April 11, 1953.
She is survived by her husband, Loren; three children, Mark Raddatz of Orange, CA, Kim (Stephanie) Raddatz of El Cajon, CA, and Lee Ann (Scott) Morrison of Point Loma, CA; one brother Edward (Joan) Barkus of Oakville, CT; one brother-in-law, Dean Raddatz of Troy Mills, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Barkus.
She retired from the Vista Unified School District after serving for 30 years as the Attendance Administrator at both the Middle and High schools. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in San Morcos.
Flowers may be sent to Eternal Hills or a donation may be made in her name to the Maryknoll Sisters.
