

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Eleanor (Ellie) A. Gibbs, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend on April 13, 2022, in Vista, California.
Eleanor (Ellie) was born on January 19, 1926, in Edenborn, PA to Anna and Frank Cielensky, the eldest of five children. Ellie grew up in Nemacolin, PA as a coal miner’s daughter. When Ellie was twenty-eight she joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in Hawaii where she met and married Ralph E. Gibbs Jr. Ralph and Ellie were married for, just shy of 50 years, until Ralph’s death in 2005. They raised two children.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ellie was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Cielensky and Frank Cielensky.
Ellie is survived by her daughter Karen Salazar, Vista, California and son Ralph E. Gibbs III, Vista, California, granddaughter Adella Myers, who was her loving caregiver for the past eight years, five grandsons; David and Nic Salazar, Brian Gibbs, Trevor Voss and Zachary Gibbs. Seven great grandchildren, 2 great-great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Rita Rock, Beltsville, Maryland and brother Charles Cielensky, Revena, Ohio
Ellie was known for her kind heart and always ready to lend a helping hand. She was a life member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary where she volunteered in the kitchen, at bingo, and offered baked goods for dessert. She donated many lap robes to the VA Hospital and as gifts to her grandchildren. Ellie left a legacy of extraordinary friendship, love, and faith to her family and friends. She will be missed as she was one of the kindest, sweetest loving people to know..
Ellie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers at Radiant Hospice of San Diego for the exceptional and loving care, smiles, and comfort they provided during the last eleven months of her life. Kathy, Elizabeth and Ti, we will always be grateful.
A memorial service will be held at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside, California on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., and graveside services will be held at 11:15 p.m. immediately following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that Ellie be honored by donating to Radiant Hospice of San Diego which is an organization that provides care to those with serious illnesses.
