Elizabeth “Sherri” Hedrick, age 52, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 16, 2023, after a courageous 4-year battle with breast cancer. Sherri was a remarkable woman, cherished by all who knew her. Her unwavering strength, positivity, and fierce spirit inspired us every step of the way throughout her fearless fight against this relentless disease and although our world has been forever changed, her light will always remain. Sherri lived life to the fullest despite her illness, and her smile, infectious laughter, and boundless love for life left a mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Despite the pain and uncertainty, she taught us the invaluable lesson of finding joy, even in the darkest times.
She was born on November 2, 1970, on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, to parents MGySgt Charles P. Hedrick and Matilda T. Hedrick. Shortly after her birth, her family relocated to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA where she spent the remainder of her life. After graduating from Oceanside High School in 1988, Sherri began working at the San Diego Superior Court, North County where she held several different positions before moving into the private law sector at Black & Edwards LLP as a legal assistant. During the last 18 years, she has worked for the City of Oceanside, as a Senior Legal Secretary.
Sherri fiercely loved her family with her whole heart and was happiest when spending time with them. She loved shopping, especially for shoes and handbags, and spending a warm summer night enjoying a concert with a friend. Each year her excitement grew as the fall season approached knowing she would soon be sipping on a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and boy could she decorate! She was always in attendance at her great-nieces and nephews’ school functions, dance recitals, and sporting events. She was the person who made friends wherever she went. Sherri was full of joy, and love and lived her life by leaving people better than she met them.
As those who knew her say goodbye to a precious soul, may her life be forever remembered by those she loved. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents MGySgt Charles and Matilda Hedrick. She is survived by her three older brothers, Terence Hedrick, Charles Hedrick, and Dwayne Hedrick, Sisters-In-Law Isabel Hedrick, and Jordan Hedrick, nieces, Cierra Padilla, Taylor Newman, Cara Hedrick, Erin Hedrick, four great-nieces and two great-nephews. Knowing that she is now reunited with the two people she missed so dearly, her mother and father brings our family great comfort in this time of sorrow.
The family wishes to express our gratitude for the overwhelming support and love we have received during this difficult time. Please join us in commemorating the life of a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of so many.
