

Gerald (Jerry) Henry Schofield, 85, of Oceanside, California, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born in Mansfield, Missouri on August 2, 1930 to the late Clyde and Opal Norcross Schofield.
Jerry was a salesman, business owner, construction superintendent, inventor and mechanical “tinkerer”. An avid outdoorsman he loved to fish, hunt, camp, boat and water ski and had a passion for all the “toys”, equipment and inventions that supported his hobbies.
Jerry was a military veteran serving in the U.S. Army, company G, 1st infantry regiment at Fort Ord, California.
He will always be remembered for his wit, storytelling, jokes and the obvious pleasure he derived in sharing them.
Besides his parents, his wife, Rose Jenkins Schofield, predeceased Jerry. Jerry is survived by daughters Deborah Tunget, Cindy Katz her husband Glenn, and sons Greg his wife Charlene, and David his husband Brian; his grandchildren Cristina Kelly, Timothy Tunget, Matthew Schofield his wife Lesley, Daniel Schofield his wife Nicki, Andrew Schofield, Michael Schofield, Danielle Katz, Rachel Fusco her husband Frank; great-grandchildren Katrina, Ryan, Lola, Henry and Elliot.
Services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at Eternal Hills Cemetery Chapel, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA 92054.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Jerry’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
