

Gordon Hunter, 81, of Oceanside, CA, formerly of Carbondale, PA, passed away peacefully at home on October 7, 2018 with his wife, Maris, by his side. Born on April 8, 1937, he was the son of the late Gordon H. and Grace Hunter.
Gordon was a graduate of Ben Franklin High School and then enlisted in the US Army and served in the Korean War. Following his service in the Army, he retired as a fork lift operator at General Dynamics in Eynon, PA.
Gordon was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Gordon and Maris would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on November 5th. Some of Gordon’s favorite things in life were to dance with his wife, decorate for all holidays, cook and spend time with his family. He loved doing household projects and could fix anything. His joy in life was to make his family happy, especially his wife.
Gordon was preceded in death by his daughters, Donna Minelli and Denise Baker, and son, Gordon Hunter, Jr, two sisters Beverly and Thelma and three brothers, James, Howard and Roy.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Maris, daughter Deborah Shihinski and husband Walter of Oceanside, CA, son Glen Arthur and wife Lisa of Dickson City, PA, Michelle Straub and husband Joe of Madison Twp., PA, son Roger Arthur and wife Dolores of Escondido, CA, daughter Christine Bonacci and husband Marty of Oceanside, CA and son Scott Hunter of San Diego, CA. Grandchildren Marci Shihinski, Martin Bonacci, Jr. and Dominic Bonacci of CA. Glen “Nick” and Amy Arthur, Grant, Shawn and Lindsay Baker, Erica Searcy, Todd Arthur, Ashley Bonanno and Alyssa Murphy all of PA. Sister, Edna Pritchard of FL, sisters in law, Mary Hunter and Sally Romansky, brother in law Joseph Grier all of PA and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
