Harriet Marie Armitage Priester Tyson died peacefully at the age of 95 on July 1, 2016 at her home in Carlsbad with her daughters Karen and Gail at her bedside. Harriet was born in Minnesota May 10, 1921; the daughter of Harry and Ethel Armitage. Harriet moved with her family to California when she was in high school and stayed when they moved back to Minnesota. She enlisted in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corp during WWII. Upon returning to CA she married William Zahn and moved to Carlsbad. She later married Robert Priester and remained married to him until his death in 2003. She then married Jim Tyson until his death.
Harriet was active in her Eastern Star Chapter and served as Worthy Matron twice and as Deputy Grand Matron. She was also active in Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed quilting and other needlework.
She was preceded in death by her brother Ralph Armitage of Canby, MN and sister Evelyn Viola Martin of Seattle, WA..
She is survived by her three daughters Lanis Lilly of Houston, TX; Karen Zahn of Albuquerque, NM and Gail Zahn of Carlsbad,CA; 3 Grand Children and 8 Great Grandchildren and her brother Gerald Armitage of Sioux Falls, SD and Sig Armitage of Canby, MN.
