Coming from a family of 10 surviving siblings Jean married into a family of 12, the Cerdas of Oceanside. It was not a hard stretch for Jean to often welcome numerous nieces and nephews to live with her and her six girls in a 2 bedroom one bath house. Everyone was always welcomed to share our meals as there was always fresh vegetables and fruits available.
Jean worked in farms up and down the state until she married and was able to work the numerous and seasonal crops available locally alongside some of her sisters and friends. Because of the variety of fruits and vegetables as well her own mini orchard at home Jean exchange fruits and vegetables with her community of family ensuring her family had fresh foods. Her last job was working at Thompson’s rose nursery.
Nana Jean was much loved by her 70 grand- great and great great grandchildren. She enjoyed the traffic come in and out of her home and always looked forward to receiving visitors. She lived with her daughter
Teresa, granddaughter Sonia and great grandchildren SkyeBird Annalise, SterlingFox , SageRose Esperanza, and Christopher Robyn-Bear. And as she lived so did she pass surrounded by her daughters , grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends at her bedside.
We celebrate her 98 years of life with memories, joy, music and food and welcome you all to join us for mom’s last fiesta.
