Born in Hammond, Indiana on February 13, 1945 to Winifred and Emmett Musselman, she is preceded in death by her parents and brother, David. She is survived by husband Dennis, daughter and best friend Dana, son and daughter-in-law Mike and Kristen and her grandchildren Logan (7), Cody (5), Austin (3) and Charlie (18), her very special cat.
At an early age, she gained a love for animals at her Grandparent's farm, and through her life, never met an animal she did not want to take home. She grew up in Wisconsin, attended schools in Milwaukee, completed her Cosmetology curriculum in Indiana and moved to California in early 1968. She settled in Glendale, and graduated from Glendale College and her professional career included work in cosmetology, medical equipment and labs, property management and education. But her passion was riding and showing her Saddlebred horse, Star, competitively.
Jeanie met and married her one and only husband, Dennis, in 1976. Work relocated the couple to Oceanside and shortly thereafter they had daughter Dana in 1979 and son Mike in 1981. Her self-proclaimed most-fulfilling accomplishment was being a mother and wife, and it paid off handsomely. She was involved in school, sports, scouts, church and any worthy cause – and was the quintessential “go to” leader or support person when anything needed to be done. She loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing and scuba diving; and her favorite sport to coach and play was soccer. Later in life, travel filled the voids with her family and wonderful travel partners. Jeanie especially enjoyed weekly get-togethers with her close friends and her focus on family is what kept her going through the many treatments and operations throughout the battle.
Her zest for life and spirit never wavered and to the bitter end she would light up a room with her warm and endearing smile. She was one-in-a-million to her friends and family whose inner and outer beauties were unmatched. She lived her life to its fullest and will be missed dearly by all who know and love her.
A Vigil and Celebration of Life will be held at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside at 4:00 to 6:30 pm on October 20, 2018 with a social gathering to follow. In Jeanie's honor, we ask that donations be made to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America.
