

Jerry Lee Collins of Carlsbad, California passed away at Silvergate Retirement Residence on January 15, 2014 at the age of 82. Jerry was born on January 9, 1932 in Kalama, Washington, the son of Jack and Beulah Collins. His family moved to Beaumont Texas, where he graduated from French High School and then joined the United States Marine Corps. Jerry proudly served in the USMC aboard the USS Essex during the Korean War. He then went on to become a general contractor, specializing in building custom homes throughout San Diego County. His infectious smile and sense of humor touched everyone he met. He was a very special man who cared deeply for his family and friends.
He is survived by his three children, Pamela Collins Sawtelle, Jeff Collins, and Sonya Collins as well as four grandchildren, Tyler Dix, Ashlie Dix, Danielle Sawtelle and David Sawtelle. Jerry also leaves behind his wife, Sandy Collins with whom he raised Joshua and Tabitha Brandt.
Our family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff who loved and cared for Jerry at Silvergate Retirement Residence in Fallbrook, California.
Military service will be held on February 17th at 9:00 a.m. at Fort Rosecrans Federal Cemetery, 1800 Cabrillo Memorial Dr, San Diego, CA 92106
