Laurence Willis Borden (Larry), 85, of Elk Grove, California, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, with his beloved wife Joanne by his side.
Larry was born on December 30, 1939, to Laurence Willis and …. Borden. After his mother’s passing, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Mary Neva Borden. Larry’s life was defined by service, generosity, and an infectious sense of humor. Larry graduated from Oceanside-Carlsbad High School in 1958. He dedicated 50 years to San Diego Gas & Electric, rising from a digging crew member to General Foreman of the North Coast District overhead line crews, earning the company's Safety Award. He took great pride in helping keep people's lights on and homes warm. Larry retired in 2008 and enjoyed nearly 29 years with his wife, Joanne, camping, spending time with family, and becoming a beloved member of The Oaks Mobile Home Park.
Larry was known for his generous spirit, grateful heart, and ability to brighten anyone's day with a joke. He loved classic cars, motorcycles, his family, and his pets. He was a passionate collector who owned a 1969 Thunderbird, a 1957 Ford Truck, a Power Dodge Wagon, and a Hot Rod Austin Ruby
Larry is survived by his daughters Denise R. Woodhams, Darlene S. Borden, Marilyn Williams (Marci), and Jennifer Orsua; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence Willis Borden, Rachel Borden, and stepmother Mary Neva Borden; brothers Bob Borden and Jimmy Clark; step-sister Barbara Taylor Borden; and niece Linda (Clark) Martinez.
One of Larry's joys in Northern California was watching the Canadian Geese flying overhead into the sunset during their yearly migration. As the sun set on Larry's life, we take great comfort knowing he has migrated home to heaven, basking in the beauty of his personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
