

Manuela "Mickey" Negron (Fernandez) Alvarez, age 97, of Escondido, California passed away peacefully on Friday February 16, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family. Manuela was born May 22, 1920 in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico to Jose and Manuela Fernandez. Mickey was their 9th child together, of 18 children. In the early 1940's, she moved to NYC in pursuit of the American Dream. With Spanish as her first language and an elementary education, she became a very successful business woman and restaurateur. Mickey, and her late husband, Tony, owned 3 restaurants together and served their communities for over 50 years. Their last restaurant, The Lazy H Ranch in Pauma Valley, California was one of their greatest achievements. Manuela is known as a strong and confident women who loved her family fiercly and truly became a role model for many Latina's in search of their own American Dream. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 64 years Tony Alvarez,and her son Ronald Alvarez. She is survived by her four sisters; Aurea, Leida, Miriam, and Rachel, her daughter Vivian and husband Jim Olynger and their 4 children; Jennifer Bond, Greg Olynger, Alison Shuai, and Whitney Carnohan. Her daughter in-law- Diane Alvarez, and her children Sean and Stacey Alvarez. She is also survived by her 11 great-grand children; Addison Bond, Gavin Carnohan, Parker Carnohan, Ava Bond, Cooper Carnohan, Coral Olynger, Sadie Shuai, Ronan Carnohan, Bodhi Olynger, Benjamin Shuai, and Molly Shuai.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday April 6, 2018 at 1:00pm at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Mortuary.
