Gilbert, Margaret A. 01/19/1930 ~ 11/15/2013 Oceanside/San Diego -- Loving mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted friend. Marge passed away on November 15, 2013. She was born, the second of four sisters, to Grace (Kirkpatrick) and Frederick W. Gilbert in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She was an amazing woman whose impact on San Diego workforce development and the woman's movement will forever be felt. Her tenure in leadership at the San Diego Workforce Partnership was significant and long lasting. In 1972, Marge served as the third President of the local chapter of the National Organization for Women, becoming one of the pioneers of the feminist movement. She is the anchor of the Wednesday Woman's Group and, though she's gone, she will always retain a presence -- her wisdom, honesty, and laughter will remain. Her sense of humor endeared her to everyone she met -- punch lines were always preceded with a mischievous grin. Marge is survived by her daughter, Dorothy E. Stanley of Encinitas; her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Mila Stanley of Trabuco Canyon; granddaughter Allison; sister, Nancy Royer of Vista; and a trove of valued friends. She will be missed and remembered by all.
